Our Story

A little about us…Aloha Activewear was created in 2017. We found an opportunity in the activewear market and decided to contribute. Now, you get out what you put in. This concept was an idea in the rough. The main idea was to provide quality activewear at affordable prices. It was surprising to us when we found a lot of known brand bathing suits at very low wholesale prices. Living in the islands now for more than a decade it was still surprising you could not find bathing suits under $100 per set. In a place where the demand and the need are present daily, it presents an opportunity to explore and adventure.

As we have matured slowly through the years we have understood this is not about making money but about being part of the community and providing a service to the community. Understanding that concept, in 2020, we decided to create our business website and create some business cards for shipping our products to have some authenticity, get recognized, and identify ourselves from everybody else.

Our motto for Aloha Activewear became “Sharing ALOHA for a mind and body positive community”!

This resonated with us for many reasons. ALOHA is such a small word but with such a big meaning. The term “Aloha” is used loosely in Hawaii, but its true meaning is so profound. To be honest, this is straight from Google's first search for the word, but just to provide a nutshell idea to grasp the concept. “The term aloha derives from Proto-Polynesia and dates back to the early 1800s. When broken down, the literal translation of the phrase translates to [Alo] meaning 'presence' and [Hā] meaning 'breath. ' Together the word aloha translates to 'The presence of breath' or 'breath of life.” (https://www.robertshawaii.com/blog/spirit-behind-aloha/)

The concept of mind and body. These are taken as a whole to us, the mind is nothing without the temple and the temple is nothing without the mind. This can be explained further as “Monism, is the position that mind and body are not physiologically and ontologically distinct kinds of entities. This view was first advocated in Western Philosophy by Parmenides in the 5th Century BC and was later espoused by the 17th Century rationalist Baruch Spinoza.[102] According to Spinoza's dual-aspect theory, mind and body are two aspects of an underlying reality which he variously described as "Nature" or "God".” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind)

Merriam-Webster defines mental health as "a state of emotional and psychological well-being in which an individual can use his or her cognitive and emotional capabilities, function in society, and meet the ordinary demands of everyday life". (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind)

Merriam-Webster provides one definition of physical as: “of or relating to the body” (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/physical) and health as 1)  the condition of being well or free from disease 2) the overall condition of someone's body or mind 3) the condition or state of something. In addition to, “the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit.” (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/health

Note: Many people will not care about Merriam-Webster or Wikipedia perse, but we just wanted to provide an even easily referable platform to reference the concepts and definitions. These definitions will probably vary per entity but the essence of the definitions will stay true and have consistency throughout.

Positive thinking, or an optimistic attitude, is the practice of focusing on the good in any given situation. It can have a big impact on your physical and mental health. (https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/resources-for-military-families) Optimism is an individual difference variable that reflects the extent to which people hold generalized favorable expectancies for their future. Higher levels of optimism have been related prospectively to better subjective well-being in times of adversity or difficulty (i.e., controlling for previous well-being). (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20170998/)

The term “community” to us is very important. Community definitions 1) a group of people who live in the same area (such as a city, town, or neighborhood) 2) a group of people who have the same interests, religion, race, etc. 3) a group of nations. (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/community

In closing, our PURPOSE is to be FOR the COMMUNITY. To share free information through our products and services for a mind and body POSITIVE community; with the concept of ALOHA. If you believe what we presented above to be TRUE, then you are already part of the COMMUNITY and we welcome you to exchange ideas freely with us to GROW TOGETHER HEALTHY and STRONG!!!

Thanks for reading. See you around!!
